A mysterious green meteorite was seen falling from the sky and landing in a field in the small town of Greensburg Point last week. Smoke and potentially hazardous gases have been reported around the area where the space rock landed, with visible fumes reaching upwards of 40 feet. Scientists have been testing the air and ground in the area for levels of toxicity while residents have been told to stay in their homes until further evidence of its’ danger is confirmed.
Already there have been bizarre cases of illness among those whom first discovered the rock: bodily transformations, worm infestations, and erratic type behavior; all of which has been causing general panic and paranoia amongst the townsfolk.
Local chapters of various popular faiths including snake-handlers and the Church of Satan have been holding ceremonies to comfort those in need, while others are arming themselves in renegade factions for what some believe to be the beginning of a nation-wide plague. Conspiracies abound: some believe Al Qaeda is responsible for planting a bomb in the guise of a space rock while others think it’s the beginning of an alien takeover.
